Safe to use
- Aids in propagation of beneficial bacteria
- Adds natural beauty to aquariums and terrariums
- Safe for use in freshwater and marine environments
A good quality gravel bed is needed in the aquarium to assist in mechanical and biological filtration. For best results, use 2 pounds of gravel for each 1 gallon of water.
Home Grown Ponics™ premium natural gravel is un-coated – colors will darken and be enhanced once the gravel is wet.
Designed specifically for use in freshwater aquariums, this gravel is non-toxic and inert, and will not affect water chemistry in any way. This natural gravel provides the required surface area and spaces between individual pebbles for beneficial bacteria to colonize.
HOW TO PREPARE YOUR HOME GROWN PONICS GRAVEL: Place the gravel in a clean strainer or colander. Hold the gravel under running warm water for several minutes until the water runs clear. This will rinse away and surface dust or debris. For best results, shift and move the gravel to help stir it up as it is being rinsed.
